What’s inside
What’s Required Where
A plain-English guide, state by state. Which states need a license, which need a certification, which have paperwork rules, and which have none. Plus the rules that follow you everywhere: respirators, lead paint, asbestos and chemicals. Each state links to its official agency page.
Core paperwork — every state
- Customer disclosure · remediation plan · contract
- Moisture notice · change order
- Daily job log · post-remediation report
- Records checklist · respirator program checklist · stop-work triggers
- 3-day Notice of Cancellation · lead pamphlet acknowledgment
12 editable Word templates built to the industry standard, plus the EPA handouts.
State packets
Add your state’s folder on top of the core set. Each one has a step-by-step compliance checklist, contract addenda with that state’s required clauses and notices, containment signs and job-site records where they’re required, and the official state forms.

Mold Job Pricing Workbook
Start from your BASE and your floor rate, so your own hours never bill below what your life costs. Then a full mold job estimate: suited-up labor, air scrubbers and dehumidifiers by the day, containment, PPE and disposal. Your pay and the job’s profit stay on separate lines.
The rules change at the state line
| Kind of state | What it means | Examples in the guide |
|---|---|---|
| License | State license, approved training, insurance minimums | TX, FL, NY, LA, DC, TN (over $25K) |
| Certification | A recognized certification before you sell residential work | VA (plus a contractor license over $1,000; IL coming) |
| Standards | No license, but required paperwork and practices | KY |
| None | No mold rules, though contractor, lead and safety rules still apply | OH, WV and others |
Current as of November 2026. Rules change, so the guide links every state to its official agency.
What this kit is not
It’s not a license, and it’s not a certification. It doesn’t count toward any state’s required training hours. If your state requires a license or a recognized certification, you need that too, and the guide shows you the path. This is the business side the classes leave out.
